How custom jewelry order process works at Rapporium?

As a jewelry manufacturer, Rapporium is dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality jewelry pieces. We understand the importance of the design process, which is why we take the time to listen and understand each customer’s vision. In this article, we will take you behind the scenes of our design process to give you a better understanding of how we bring our customers’ ideas to life.

Step 1: Understand the Design Idea from Customer

The first step in our design process is to understand the design idea from the customer. We take the time to listen and ask questions to ensure we have a clear understanding of what the customer wants. This helps us to create a design that not only meets but exceeds their expectations.

Step 2: Create a Hand Sketch & CAD File from the Idea

Once we have a clear understanding of the customer’s design idea, we create a hand sketch of the design. This allows the customer to visualize what the final product will look like. We then use this sketch to create a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) file.

Step 3: Confirmation of CAD Design from Customer

Once the CAD file is created, we send it to the customer for approval. This allows them to see a 3D representation of their design and make any necessary changes before the production process begins.

Step 4: Make a Wax Module from CAD File

Once the design is approved, we create a wax module using the CAD file using 3D printing technology. This wax module is a physical representation of the final product and allows us to make any final adjustments before the production process begins.

Step 5: Creating Casting Piece

Using the wax module, we create a casting piece. This is the first step in creating the final product and allows us to ensure that the design is perfect before moving forward.

Casting is one of the most commonly used processes in jewelry manufacturing. It involves pouring molten metal into a mold, which then solidifies and takes the shape of the mold. The casting process allows for the production of intricate and detailed designs, as well as the creation of multiple identical pieces.

Molten metal is poured into the cavity using a centrifugal casting machine or vacuum casting machine. The metal is allowed to cool and solidify, and the mold is broken to reveal the cast piece. The piece is then cleaned, polished, and finished to the desired level of quality.

Casting is an important process in jewelry making, as it allows for the creation of unique and intricate designs that may not be possible with other manufacturing techniques. It is also an efficient way to produce multiple identical pieces. However, it requires skill and experience to achieve consistent results, and the quality of the final product is highly dependent on the skill of the caster and the quality of the materials used.

Step 6: Pre Polish, Filling and Diamond Setting

Once the casting piece is created, we move on to pre-polishing, filling, and diamond setting. This is where the piece really starts to take shape and come to life.

Filling is the process of filling any small gaps or holes in the metal after the casting process is complete. This is done to ensure that the metal is smooth and uniform, which will make it easier to work with during the polishing and finishing stages. Typically, a skilled jewelry maker will use a specialized soldering technique to fill in any gaps and create a seamless piece.

Pre-polishing is the step in the jewelry making process where the piece is polished to a high shine before it is set with any stones. This is an important step because it allows the jeweler to see any imperfections or scratches in the metal that need to be removed before the stones are set. It also ensures that the metal is perfectly smooth and even, which will help the stones to sit securely in the piece.

Diamond setting is the process of securely mounting diamonds or other precious stones into the metal. This is a delicate and intricate process that requires a lot of skill and attention to detail. The jeweler will carefully measure and cut the metal to create a secure setting for the stone, and then use special tools to gently bend the metal around the stone and hold it in place. The final result should be a beautiful piece of jewelry that sparkles and shines in the light.

Step 7: Final Polish & Plating

The final step in our design process is the final polish and plating. This is where the piece is polished to perfection and given its final finish.

Step 8: Quality Check

At Rapporium, we follow strict quality control standards and every piece of jewelry is checked 3 times so that our customer always receives the same product as they would have imagined in perfect manner that stays lifetime.

Quality control is an essential step in jewelry manufacturing, ensuring that the final product meets the customer’s expectations in terms of both aesthetics and durability. The following are some common quality control measures used by manufacturers:

  1. Visual inspection: Each piece of jewelry is visually inspected to ensure that it meets the design specifications, and any defects or flaws are noted and addressed.

  2. Metal testing: Metal is tested to ensure that it is of the correct quality and purity, and that it is free of any defects or impurities that may affect the durability of the piece.

  3. Stone setting: Stones are checked to ensure that they are of the correct size, shape, and color, and that they are securely set in the piece.

  4. Polishing: Each piece is polished to ensure a smooth and consistent finish, and any scratches or blemishes are removed.

  5. Plating: If the piece is plated, the plating is checked to ensure that it is even and of the correct thickness.

  6. Weight and measurement: The weight and dimensions of the piece are checked to ensure that they meet the design specifications.

  7. Functionality: If the piece has any functional components, such as a clasp or hinge, they are tested to ensure that they function correctly and securely.

Overall, quality control is an ongoing process throughout the manufacturing process, with each step building on the previous one to ensure that the final product meets the high standards set by the manufacturer.

Step 9: Shipping & Delivery

Once everything is ready, we prepare for shipping of the order. Transit times are mostly around 7 to 9 business days. We ships via UPS or FedEx mainly, all the packages are 100% insured until they are delivered. So you never have to worry about any transit loss or anything.

At Rapporium, we take pride in our design process and ensure that our customers are kept up to date every step of the way. We provide regular updates, share behind the scenes pictures and videos, and even provide a full QC video once the product is ready. Our dedication to quality and customer satisfaction is what sets us apart from other jewelry manufacturers.
